Alicea Nicholas
Registered Psychologist
Alicea is a compassionate and experienced psychologist with a Master of Professional Psychology from Macquarie University. She moved to the Sunshine Coast to join the E&A team after working in a multidisciplinary allied health service supporting children and adolescents.
Alicea has a strong passion for working with neurodivergent individuals, taking a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed approach. She provides a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, choices and life experiences.
She has experience working with anxiety disorders including Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), mood disorders and trauma, and takes a holistic approach by collaborating with schools, day cares, parents and other health professionals to achieve the best outcomes for every client.
Alicea draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and parenting strategies. She is also skilled in administering a range of psychometric assessments.
Alicea predominantly works with children, adolescents and young adults, and has experience supporting individuals through the NDIS, Mental Health Treatment Plans and other referral pathways. She enjoys using creative tools to keep young people engaged while working toward their goals. Alicea also has experience delivering Telehealth therapy to children and adolescents.
