Genevieve Rix

Registered Psychologist, Endorsed in Clinical and Counselling Psychology, Board Approved Supervisor

Genevieve is a warm and compassionate registered psychologist with endorsement in both Clinical and Counselling Psychology. She works primarily with adults and brings an emotion-focused approach that integrates research-based techniques with genuine care, compassion, and thoughtful guidance.

She has experience across private practice and tertiary education settings and is passionate about creating a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship where clients can safely explore their experiences, process and heal from emotional pain, and develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion. Her approach combines empathy and insight with practical strategies that support long-term wellbeing and help clients build stronger, more fulfilling connections with themselves, others, and the world around them.

She works with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, perinatal mental health challenges, and grief and loss. She supports Autistic people and individuals with ADHD, bipolar disorder, and personality-related diagnoses, as well as those exploring gender identity.

Genevieve has a particular interest in anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Her practice is client-centred and integrative, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). She has undertaken advanced national and international training in EFT and values its depth in helping clients process unresolved emotional experiences and complex trauma. Additionally, Genevieve has recently completed Levels 1 and 2 in Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) training, an effective therapy used to process events that have caused symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and other struggles.

Genevieve is a Board Approved Supervisor with a special interest in supporting mental health professionals undertaking training in Emotion Focused Therapy or wanting to take an emotion-focused approach to understanding their clients’ presenting concerns. She is a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) and the Australian Institute of Emotion Focused Therapy (AIEFT).
