Kristin Marvin

Provisional Psychologist

Kristin Marvin holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a Masters Degree in forensic psychology, both obtained in the USA.

Kristin is passionate about working with clients with chronic pain, physical, mental, or intellectual disabilities, anxiety, depression, caregiver burnout and living with a terminal illness.

She has spent her mental health career making sure all her clients have the absolute best care and knowledge, are connected within their networks, and feel a great sense of validation and being heard.

Her therapy approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Schema Therapy. Her approach can be eclectic at times to ensure the best, client-centred fit for each person's needs.

Kristin has been a private practitioner in her own private practices, worked in school settings as a school counsellor, has been an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) psychologist, prison psychologist, and many other roles throughout her career in the United States including teaching at the University level and public speaking.

Whilst her psychology experience has been in the United States, Kristin's 20+ year career in mental health has been extensive, and is relevant to Australia. She is now a Provisional Psychologist in Australia, working towards full registration.

Kristin moved back to Australia in June 2020, after having been away since the age of 9, and lives in the beautiful Sunshine Coast with her husband, two step-children, and 3 cats. Kristin enjoys running, dance, teaching Zumba several days per week, gardening, road trips, cooking and baking, world-travel (30+ countries!), and most importantly spending time with family and friends. In 2022 she completed her first book, The Reluctant Caregiver: How to Survive the Rollercoaster Called End-of-Life Care of a Family Member, for those looking after the terminally ill. It can be found on Amazon.
